Warehouse Management

Project Goal

Intuit need to build a Warehouse management product to support its QuickBook customers who are switching to competition as they offer integrated accounting, invoicing and order management. These customers are SMEs and they need to basically invoice based on the order delivery. They need to track inventory. These customers have to buy other warehouse management products and they are likely to shift to their accounting module.

Product Features

Inventory Management

  • Track product movement and storage, and update inventory status in real-time.

  • Easily transfer inventory between locations.

  • Use serial and lot numbers to manage inventory, warranty claims, or track defects.

Order management

  • Manage the entire sales order fulfillment process from a single dashboard.

  • Prioritize which orders to fulfill first based on the value of each customer to your business.

Barcode scanning

  • Automate receiving, accelerate your picking process, and reduce data entry errors.

  • Send orders to workers on the floor, scan inventory, and transfer data wirelessly.

User Research

To understand how Quickbook users manage their small warehouse we visited multiple locations in the US and in India. These users don't want to buy full-fledge warehouse management and order fulfillment software. They own QuickBooks accounting products. They want to track their invoices against orders they receive, plus inventory in their warehouse

User Persona

Admin/Owner

Users can select the order and choose which warehouse to fulfill it.

Warehouse manager

The warehouse manager knows the products and their location in the warehouse. He has a detailed view of the warehouse.

Picker/Receiver

Those are floating users who are not very literate. They are part-timers or with low experience.  They may not have much experience in their jobs.
